Recap of Wizards of Waverly Place, Season 1, Episode 6: You Can't Always Get What You Carpet

Wizards Of Waverly Place is a new series to the Disney Channel. It is basically about a family of 5.

Nothing typical here though, you see their dad Jerry was once a Wizard, but lost his powers when he married a mortal. His 3 children though Max, Alex, and Justin all are wizards though! Although Jerry has no powers anymore, he is still able to teach his children what he knows.

Wizards Of Waverly Place to me is a more modern day Sabrina The Teenage Witch. It's cute, its wholesome, its fun, and by God it is addicting!

In You Can't Always Get What You Carpet (Season 1, Episode 6), Alex thinks that she has her dad wrapped around her little finger. She can get what she wants, when she wants and barely has to beg for the things she wants.

Things though don't always turn out quite the way she wants when she discovers an old flying carpet in the basement. The moment Alex asks for lessons from her dad to fly the magic carpet he tells her no.

However as soon as she finds out that her dad taught her older brother Justin how to fly the carpet, she gets very jealous and uses it as an advantage to make her dad feel guilty for teaching Justin to fly, and not her.

Her dad caves and he takes her out for flying lessons.

Things though go sour while he is teaching her to fly, and he ends up yelling at her for not following directions properly. She takes this to heart because her father has never yelled at her before.

To make it up to her dad, she plans a breakfast for dinner for him, because breakfast for dinner is one of her fathers favorite things. Her dad though acts like a giant baby and does not want to eat or even be around her.

Now the episode was a good one up until this display happened. Now don't get me wrong, I love the show, I just think the way he acted around his daughter was a bit too foul for me. Firstly she didn't do anything that bad, she simply could not fly the carpet, and secondly she tried making it up to him, for him yelling at her!?!?! Yet there he is ignoring her nice gesture.

Anyhow, after this whole dinner spiel, Justin decides that he will teach Alex to fly the carpet instead, so that way the next time she has to go out for lessons with her dad, she will know what she is doing.
There of course is a whole loving moral of the story at the end, and a good reason as to why her dad was being a jerk. I won't blow it for you.

Overall, You Can't Always Get What You Carpet was decent. Not one of my particular all time favorites, but still it was watchable.

All in all, this particular episode gets a 6 out of 10 stars from me.
