Wizards of Waverly Place, Season 1, Episode 20: Quinceanera

Wizards Of Waverly Place is a Disney show that I have been following since it first began airing. I have fallen in love with the family, the humor, and the most of all the wizard Alex, who is played by Selena Gomez.

The show is about a family of 5, who conveniently have 3 children who are wizards, so it's a show where anything goes, and magic can fix just about anything. Their father Jerry was once a wizard but lost his powers after he married a mortal. Although he has no powers, he is able to teach his children magic, spells, and charms.

In Quinceanera, Alex's mom is planning Alex's Quinceanera, a Mexican birthday party that celebrates a girl turning 15. The Quinceanera is equivalent to America's sweet 16.

Alex however does not want anything to do with it. She hates dresses, hates the outfit her mom is making her wear, and all around just hates the idea of her being the star in her Quinceanera.

When Alex discovers that her mother never got to have her Quinceanera, and it had always been her dream to plan one for her daughter, Alex decides to use her magic to give her mother the one thing she never got to have, a Quinceanera. Alex switches bodies with her mother, and now her mother is Alex, and Alex is her mother.

Quinceanera is probably the most beautiful episode I have ever seen come from the show. A daughter giving her day away to her mother, just so she could experience a Quinceanera that she herself never got to have. The episode was touching.

I highly recommend this show, and this particular episode. Quinceanera is like the movie Freaky Friday, only downsized into a 30 minute show, but equally as charming.
